McMullen Denim Destination

As the seasons change, we are stepping into all of the best denim styles to add to your wardrobe. With a pleasant array of heavy textured knits, printed tops, tailored coats and capes and glamorous footwear for this season- we have a constant common denominator that always follows suit in successfully pulling each look together- Denim..and denim is always in season!

As denim has maintained a timeless presence in our daily uniform and has successfully worked its ways into corporate culture, we are able to include sophistication and comfort in one. As the famous “jegging” maintains its position among fav's, we are also seeing additional styles that include clean lines, wider legs and lean silhouettes.

Rag & Bone Legging
Rag & Bone denim provides a premier and classic collection that vary in wash and cut in denim and twill styles. McMullen carries a variety of these denim pieces in the legging, skinny, straight and stiletto boot cut styles. This British tailored influenced line, is framed by the constants of high quality fabric, classic construction and perfect fit with a handmade feel.

J Brand: Maria High-Rise skinny leg
The designer described the new aesthetic to Women’s Wear Daily as “the clean look,” seen throughout the season. The denim mogul went on to explain that “the future of denim design, at least a premium level, is a kind of luxury look in denim, using new fibers like Tencel, micro modal and Cupro. It’s not just about cotton anymore.”

The ever so popular J Brand denim is available in the cargo, high, low and mid-rise styles with a variety of leg openings, including skinny, straight, semi-boot and classic boot to fit the sillouette just right for you.

MIH: Marrakesh Mid-rise kick flare

MIH Jeans are the original British denim brand. Using only the highest quality fabrics and paying the utmost attention to detail, MIH jeans not only look good, but last a lifetime. We carry the Paris (mid-rise cropped slim leg), London (mid-rise subtle boot cut and Marrakesh (mid-rise kick flare).

October Designer Focus: Shipley and Halmos

Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos's two-story Shipley & Halmos studio loft at Greene and Canal Streets, in New York City, is a sun-drenched haven from midwinter muck. The natural light is so blinding that you need a moment to adjust before teetering down the stairs and into the thick of the designers' work. Like their men's and women's clothes, the studio is inviting and comfortable with plenty of room to play, and, upon further inspection, full of thoughtful and occasionally cheeky details.

There were no complicated themes or inspiration stories. Instead, Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos focused on one basic question: "What's in a woman's closet?" If the designers have their way, it'll be their updates on classic fare, like a five-pocket silk "jean" or a leather and wool varsity jacket. The duo's past collections have had a tendency to be one-note, but here they wisely emphasized a range of versatile options. Sheer Breton shirts, updated "little black dresses", and easy prints looked wearable but had enough flair to pique a girl's interest—it's the sort of approach that some of the most successful young New York designers have been taking. With their latest effort, Shipley and Halmos are aiming to position themselves in that company.

Shipley and Halmos bring their Fall 2010 collection with much ardor and sophisticated air. We are delighted to carry the beautiful collection at both of our locations.
